Smudging has been used for thousands of years as a way to cleanse oneself or a space from bad spirits or negative energy. It also removes bacteria from the air, repels insects, improves intuition, purifies specific objects, improves mood and reducing stress and anxiety.
Useful when feeling depressed, angry, resentful, unwell, after an argument, or if you have felt a negative or unwanted presence in your home. To smudge, light the sage, let it catch fire, then extinguish. Walk around allowing smoke everywhere (including the corners where energy gets stuck).
